Working Things Through Together
We can look at what is going on, what may be contributing to the difficulty and what you have already tried.
We can think about your child’s needs, your own responses, what happens at home and any other factors that may be affecting things.
Sometimes, just having another pair of eyes on a situation can be extremely helpful. I can also provide psychoeducation to help you understand more about your child’s behaviour, emotional development and individual needs, as well as signposting and next steps if further investigation or support may be needed.
Most importantly, we can think about practical things you can try.
If something works, we can build on it.
If it doesn’t, we can look at what happened and think about what we could change or try differently.
Sometimes that means adapting an approach you are already using. Sometimes it means thinking outside the box and trying something completely different.

- Communication Difficulties At Home
- Difficult Patterns That Keep Happening
- Feeling Stuck or Unsure What To Try Next
You don’t need to know exactly what the problem is before getting in touch. We can work that out together.
You Don't Have to Work It Out On Your Own
You don’t have to leave a session with things to try and then wait until the next appointment to tell me how it went.
If you want to, you can keep in regular contact with me during the week to share updates, let me know how things are going and talk through what is or isn’t working.
This means we can look at things as they happen and make changes along the way.
Some parents may prefer to try things independently and bring everything back to the next session. Others may want more support between sessions.
There is no right or wrong way to use the support. We can work together in the way that is most helpful for you and your family.
Reflective Parenting or Child Therapy?
Reflective Parenting focuses on working with you as a parent to understand and respond to difficulties within everyday family life.
Child therapy gives your child or young person their own therapeutic space.
Sometimes working with the parent is the right place to start. Sometimes your child may benefit from their own therapy. Sometimes both at the same time can be helpful.
We can talk about this during your initial consultation and think together about what may be most appropriate.
Send An Enquiry
The first step is a free initial telephone consultation. You can tell me what has been happening, what you have already tried and what you are finding difficult. You can ask questions about how I work and whether Reflective Parenting might be the right support for you.
You don’t need to have all the answers before getting in touch.
Reflective Parenting is available from my practice in Ilford, supporting parents and families across Redbridge and surrounding East London and Essex areas.
